Hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating, can be primary or secondary. Primary hyperhidrosis normally starts at puperty. The causes for primary hyperhidrosis are unknown. It is, however, thought to be genetic and related to an overactive sympathetic nervous system. Excessive sweating can occur regardless of temperature or emotional state. Anxiety frequently appears to exacerbate the problem. Other common contributors are spicy hot foods, alchohol, nicotine, and caffeine.

Secondary hyperhidrosis can occur at any point in life. The cause for secondary hyperhidrosis is generally another condition such as hyperthyroidism, obesity, psychiatric conditions, menopause, a reaction to medication, cancer, anxiety, and infection.

Hyperhidrosis should not be confused with diaphoresis. Diaphoresis is excessive sweating that accompanies shock or a medical emergency. Persistent excessive sweating is hyperhidrosis.

Though the causes for excessive sweating are not clearly understood, hyperhidrosis is thought to results from an over stimulated sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is part of autonomic nervous system, the part you do not consciously control. The sympathetic nervous system function abnormally in people with hyperhidrosis causing excessive amounts of the neuron transmitter acetylcholine to be send to the nerve endings in the area of the sweat glands. This neurotransmitter signals the sweat glands to produce sweat when it is not needed. Assuming that is true, treatments that reduce stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system should also reduce excessive sweating.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating, perspiration that exceeds the level required to keep the body at normal body temperature. Sweat cools the body via the cooling affect of evaporation. If sweat is dripping from your body, you are sweating faster than the sweat is evaporating and therefore faster than the rate required to cool the body. This may be normal during heavy exercise or in humid climates. At rest in non-humid air, this level of excessive perspiration is hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis is prevalent in specific areas of the body:

• Palmar Hyperhydrosis: Excessive sweating of the hands. the feet
• Facial Hyperhydrosis: Excessive sweating of the face.
• Axillary Hyperhydrosis: Excessive sweating of the armpits.the groin.
• Plantar Hyperhydrosis: Excessive sweating of the feet.

It can also occur over the entire body but this is less common.

Hyperhidrosis can be primary or secondary. Primary Hyperhidrosis typically begins at puberty and is usually genetic. Secondary Hyperhidrosis may star at any time and should be considered a symptom of some other problem. Potential causes of secondary hyperhydrosis include:

• Thyroid gland disorders
• Pituitary gland
• Diabetes
• Tumors
• Gout
• Menopause
• Reactions to medication
• Allergies

The impact of hyperhidrosis, assuming it is not the symptom of another illness, is social. Hyperhydrosis patients suffer from fear of social situations, stage fright, or any situation that focuses attention on them. Sufferers fear that the sweat stains from excessive sweating reflect poorly on them and are evidence of their discomfort and embarassment. This fear of excessive perspiration creates a circular problem as sweating increases with anxiety. This fear can lead to problems in employment, choice of career, forming new social contacts, and engaging in social activity non sufferers consider fun and exciting.

Excessive sweating (also known as Hyperhidrosis) is often an embarrassing condition that affects a very small percentage of people in the world. It is estimated that less than 1% of all people suffer from this condition but it does not make it less of a problem to those affected by it. Many people do not realize they have this condition so the percentage could be much higher.

The reason people are so impacted by this condition is that it happens regardless of what your body temperature is or how you feel. When you sweat, your body is trying to regulate its own temperature. Excessive sweating is not controlled by this body function. It does not matter if it is hot out or you are in a certain situation. Some people have a Catch 22 effect… they get nervous about sweating which causes them to sweat even more than normal. But some of the other causes may be unknown to some suffering people:

• Cigarettes/Cigars (nicotine)
• Caffeine
• Beverages
• Food

Excessive sweating is most often noticed by occurring at certain parts of the body. The hands, feet and groin are most common which can make social situations uncomfortable. A list of the major areas are:

• Excessive sweating of the hands – (Palmar)
• Excessive sweating of the armpits – (Axillary)
• Excessive sweating of the feet – (Plantar)
• Excessive sweating of the face – (Facial)
• Overall excessive sweating – (General)

There is no known cause of hyperhydrosis but some claim it has to do with a disorder of the nervous system and stems from a brain function issue.

The biggest issue with this condition is not the actual sweating but the effect the sweating has on the person. The sweating prevents people from having certain types of job such as those which take place in stressful or very warm conditions. Even such positions involving interviewing, and shaking hands often are problematic for sufferers. People often try to combat this by limiting the amount of water intake which then causes even more issues such as dehydration.

There are several remedies that may help some suffers of this condition. As always this is not medical advice and any choices made should be made in consultation with a medical doctor.
An aluminum chloride (hexahydrate) solution can be used as anti-perspirant to help with the excessive sweating. Most anti-persperants have the aluminum chloride in them but at a quantity much less than needed by people who excessively sweat. While this may be a wonderful help for some people, many people do indicate an irritation from this aluminum chloride percentage. Also, this technique does not work for people suffering from excessive sweating of the hands and feet.

It has been a hot day and your underarms are almost soaked with sweat. You don’t even want to put your nose close to it. You know how bad the smell is and decide to avoid the public transport. Everyday, you spend more money than usual with unnecessary taxi fares. You feel like jumping into the pool and wish that there would be an easier way to learn how to prevent excessive sweating.

Thank your lucky stars for stumbling upon this article. I am going to share with you three super-effective methods that I have used to prevent excessive sweating during my ‘dripping’ days. These methods may seem all too common sense for you, but guess what, these are the things that most people overlook each and every single day.

If you want to know how to prevent excessive sweating, you have to understand how our body works and the causes of sweating. When you have realized how easy it is to control yourself, then you will know that it doesn’t take a genius to come up with these 3 super-effective tips for you to prevent excessive sweating.

How to Prevent Excessive Sweating Tip No #1 -

Drink more water. There are some people who would think that drinking more water will make them sweat even more. This is almost the opposite. Sweating is your body’s natural way to cool itself. If your body is HOT, you will sweat MORE.

How to Prevent Excessive Sweating Tip No #2 -

Wear loose clothing. Does this sound like some super-intelligent stuff to you? Heck, no. But if you realize that most people who complain of excessive sweating tend to choke themselves with ties and long sleeves all day long.

How to Prevent Excessive Sweating Tip No #3 -

Drink tea. Yeah, tea is good! Not the iced variety, but the hot kind. Although you may find it crazy to drink a cup of hot tea when you are feeling warm and sweaty yourself, you may find it comforting to know that a hot cup of tea is actually refreshing and helps to cool you down.

These are the three super-effective tips that I can personally vouch for if you want to learn how to prevent excessive sweating. However, there are more natural remedies that you can learn if you have the time to spare. Come visit our website which is listed below to discover more ways of preventing excessive sweating and stay dry throughout the day.

Excessive sweating in children is sometimes due to medical reasons. Medical reasons should be explored before beginning holistic treatment.

By Cynthia S.

Excessive sweating in children can be due to many causes. Children tend to sweat profusely so excessive sweating is not necessarily cause for alarm. Usually, safe holistic treatments can be used to decrease discomfort. However, if your gut tells you there is a real problem, listen to your gut. In that case, before exploring holistic treatments, every possible medical reason should be explored.

There are a few medical reasons that infants and young children may have excessive sweating. One shouldn’t rush to diagnose any of the possible conditions, but if excessive sweating exists, then one should check for other symptoms of disease.

Diabetes

One of the symptoms of diabetes is excessive sweating. One should look at other symptoms such as excessive thirst and frequent urination before considering the possibility of diabetes.

Congestive Heart Failure

If excessive sweating occurs whenever an infant is feeding, then congestive heart failure may be a possibility. Other symptoms such as fast respiratory rate and a frequent cough would accompany the sweating.

Hyperthyroidism

href=”http://wellness.onyxopinions.com/sweating.html” mce_href=”http://wellness.onyxopinions.com/sweating.html”>Excessive sweating in children may also be due to Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Hyperthyroidism can easily be ruled out with a simple urine test.

Once the above medical conditions have been ruled out, it is now time to seek holistic approaches. Any long-term condition that cannot or should not be remedied by medical or surgical procedures should be a candidate for more holistic remedies. Check with your doctor before beginning any holistic program.

One holistic remedy includes taking 2 teaspoons of vinegar and 2 teaspoons of honey first thing in the morning. This remedy works for some people.

Are you looking for a natural hyperhidrosis remedy? Learn how I treated hyperhidrosis with a natural treatment!

By Ricky Wallick

About 1% of the population suffer from hyperhidrosis, and if you are one of them, I’m sure you would be eager to find a hyperhidrosis natural remedy. This form of treatment does exist, but you will need more persistence and determination if you wish to succeed with this method.

Our body is constantly producing heat from within, due to metabolic reactions. To release this heat from our body, sweat is produced by the sweat glands that eventually reach the skin surface, and evaporated into the air. This process prevents the body from reaching abnormal toxic levels. For the other one percent of people, their sweating can occur even though they are not feeling warm or anxious. It is just that their nervous system are sending signals to the sweat glands.

If you love to drink caffeine-rich drinks, you might need to cut down on them. Caffeine is a stimulant that increases metabolism and heartbeat, thus causing excessive sweating.

The faster treatment methods are more expensive, and often bring more side effects. One of them is Botox injections. They tend to be very painful and can cost up to $1400. Despite that, some people have said that it is all worth it. I personally do not agree, as I’ve found that hyperhidrosis natural remedies have worked for me, even though they might take longer. If all else fails, there is still surgery to remove your sweat glands completely, or cut off the nerves that activate the sweat glands.

Before using methods like Botox and surgery, it is a good idea to use natural methods first before trying them. Botox involves injecting a chemical into your body, and that could induce longer term side effects.
